Scope and Content
4 sheets of drawings of components of early telephone apparatus, dated in pencil '1898 Newark Kew Gardens'.
Donated by the descendents of Gilbert Edward Summers. Family tradition ascribes these drawings to Gilbert Edward Summers who studied electrical engineering at King's College Kew. 'Newark' is supposed to be the name of the house where he lodged. Similar drawings appear in Preece and Maier 'The Telephone', 1889. They illustrate equipment by several inventors.
