The book contains press cuttings pasted into the book from newspapers, articles, exhibitions etc to do with Evershed & Vignoles. Some of the cutting are loose mainly due to failure of the paste. The first press cutting, dated 15th April 1943, is from ‘Electrical News and Engineering’ is an article by W.B.Buchanan titled ‘Measuring Resistances of 1,000 to 1,000,000 Ohms using Meg Tester’. The last press cutting dated Nov. 1948 is from ‘The Australasian Engineer’ and is an advertisement for E&V testing instruments. Page 12 – An article from ‘Electrical Trading London’ dated Jan 1944 is titled ‘New Year Honours’ and mentions H.J.Sparrow, senior foreman E&V receiving a BEM. (British Empire Medal). Page 91 - An article from ‘Electrical Review London’ dated Jan 1947 is titled ‘New Year Honours’ and mentions J.S.Bradshaw, chief tester, Admiralty section test room, E&V receiving a BEM. (British Empire Medal). Page 146 – An obituary dated 17 Jan. 1948 for James G. Biddle, Philadelphia who founded his own business in 1895 and was responsible for the introduction of many electrical and scientific instruments to the U.S. His company represented E & V in the U.S. from 1910 and established an American factory in 1943. Page 195 – Various obituaries with pictures dated Nov. 1948 for Ernest BlackerVignoles one of the founders of Evershed & Vignoles. Mentions that he was originally employed in 1889 by W.T.Goolden & Co. where he was engaged with Sydney Evershed on research work connected with investigations into problems concerning magnetic induction in iron.
