Material relating to Chick's work for the Ministry of Supply, Associated Electrical Industries Ltd Research Laboratory and Vickers Company Research Laboratory, including his work on particle accelerators, thermonuclear and plasma research, research on superconductivity, and activation analysis. There is little surviving material relating to the development of the Merlin Research Reactor except his published papers and some press cuttings relating to the opening of the reactor in November 1959. Lectures and papers relating to research in progress at AEI Aldermaston including work on Sceptre and the Merlin research reactor will be found in Section C. The papers surviving from the Vickers Research Laboratory are a rather heterogenous collection whcih cannot be considered as fully representative of Chick's activities during that period.
