Scope and Content
Autograph letter dated from SS Celtic sailing for New York, describing the ship and accommodation. He also reports discussions with Mr Beilby, who will take 2000 at once and possibly 3000 in a year or so. Merx then calculates possible revenue and profit. Beilby does not want 'the process' talked about but it apparently involves sodium. He will also pay rent for the land. McLellan is now looking after the matter and will communicate with Sloan in due course. The price per per annum should be kept as quiet as possible. He mentions that Sir William Mather of Mather & Platt is chairman of the company which is already successfully at work but they talk of moving the whole of this particular process to Tyneside.
