Papers relating to Coales time at the Department of Engineering, University of Cambridge. Coales returned to Cambridge in 1952 to set up a postgraduate course in control engineering and take over the control research group set up by R H MacMillan in 1947. During this time he worked on non-linear systems, on-off controls, control problems in industry and economic models. Coales would return to the last area after his retirement. Coales was the first Professor of Control Engineering at Cambridge.
